Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet urges Haier Group to expand technology investment in Cambodia

Beijing: Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has urged Haier Group to expand its investment in the technology sector in Cambodia, as the government considers the technology sector an important engine for driving economic growth.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet made this push and encouragement during a courtesy call and working discussion with Mr. Diao Yunfeng, Vice President of Haier Group, on the afternoon of July 15, 2026, in Beijing.
This important meeting took place during Samdech Thipadei’s three-day official visit (July 15–17) to China, highlighting the Cambodian Royal Government’s high commitment to attracting leading global technology investments.
During this meeting, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and Mr. Diao Yunfeng held in-depth discussions on opportunities to expand Haier Group’s presence in Cambodia. Haier Group is a major Chinese multinational corporation headquartered in Qingdao City, Shandong Province. Founded in 1984, its business operations encompass Smart Home, IoT Ecosystems, Smart Energy, and the Industrial Internet.
Furthermore, this meeting clearly reflects the commitment of the Royal Government of Cambodia, under the wise leadership of Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, to attracting leading technology investors to Cambodia while promoting human resource development and sustainable technology transfer in line with Cambodia’s Vision 2050 to become a high-income country.

Haier Group’s Prominence on the International Stage: The company recorded a total global revenue of 426.8 billion yuan (approximately USD 59.8 billion) in 2025 and a global profit of 32.2 billion yuan (approximately USD 4.5 billion). The company employs a total of 146,000 staff worldwide and operates 8 subsidiaries. Notably, Haier Group has been ranked No. 1 in global major home appliances brand market share by research firm Euromonitor International for 17 consecutive years, underscoring the company’s unmatched manufacturing strength and innovation.
Practical Cooperation in Cambodia and the Birth of the KHaitech Brand: Currently, Haier Group is actively expanding its presence in Cambodia through its subsidiary, Haier Haitech, by partnering with Neak Oknha Sam Soknoeun’s SAM SN GROUP to form the joint venture company KH Haitech Co., Ltd. This company has created the first Cambodian electronic devices brand, “K Haitech,” which serves as a point of national pride in producing technology products under a purely Cambodian brand.
Tablet Manufacturing Plant Project and Investment Capital: This collaborative project is constructing the first manufacturing plant for Cambodian-brand tablets, with an initial investment capital of approximately USD 10 million for its first phase. The factory is scheduled to begin operations in 2027, targeting an initial production of 10,000 tablets for the domestic market. A notable feature is that these tablets will strictly carry the Cambodian brand “K Haitech” rather than a foreign brand, while utilizing technology sourced from Haier Group—demonstrating a transparent and sustainable technology transfer. KH Haitech Co., Ltd. has fully completed its business registration and trademark protection, and is currently proceeding with license application procedures with the relevant ministries.

Project Goals and Benefits: This project is not merely an investment in manufacturing, but also supports Cambodia’s Industry 4.0 goals and helps narrow the digital divide in society. The initial phase focuses on the e-education sector by providing affordable tablets to students and informal sector workers, alongside vocational training platforms. In addition, the project will support Cambodia’s digital transformation in other sectors, such as e-healthcare and smart manufacturing.
Future Vision: KH Haitech is establishing a modern, highly automated manufacturing plant and a new green industrial zone in Cambodia to drive technology transfer, job creation for local citizens, and the development of local digital skills. The project focuses on digital solutions and advanced manufacturing with the goal of enhancing domestic production capacity, reducing the import of foreign electronics, and promoting the sustainable growth of Cambodia’s digital economy.
